Who is Sarah Madritsch?
Let’s rewind to November 2021. Hotelfachschule Zürich (formerly Belvoir Park) launched their Sommelière Program with eidg. Fachausweis - and both Sarah Madritsch and Kirtanya (one of our owners) signed up.
Over the next year and a half, between wine lessons and tastings, Sarah and Kirtanya bonded over food, friendship, wine, bold flavours, and the cultural mash-up that makes hospitality so damn fun.
Sarah was born in Bangkok and moved to Zürich at 22. Despite speaking mostly Thai and English growing up, she picked up German with impressive speed - and brought her Thai roots with her, blending exotic ingredients with a minimalist, flavour-first style.
Fast-forward to 2022, and Sarah was named Best Barkeeper of the Year at the Swiss Bar Awards. She went on to run the bar at Igniv Zürich and most recently teamed up with SWISS to launch a custom elderflower–dry vermouth cocktail now served on flights worldwide. Casual.
Sarah’s approach is all about simplicity and technique - she plays with clarifying, carbonating, washing and low-ABV builds to create drinks that are elegant, interesting, and fast. Her zero-alcohol cocktails get just as much love as the boozy ones.
Sarah Madritsch takes over The Bite from August 29 - 30
For this two-night pop-up, Sarah's designed a special cocktail menu inspired by the Agave plant, featuring Mezcal and Tequila from Oaxaca, plus a solid lineup of non-alcoholic options that hit just as hard.
And because great drinks deserve great food, our head chef Robert (bringing his Colombian roots to the table) is throwing down homemade empanadas and deep-fried plantain chips.
And yes - we’re also serving a very special burger created just for this event, alongside our à la carte menu.
